A single volume set against the bottle kiln’s brick drum, planned around one good window and a bed drawn behind a fluted oak screen. Compact by measure, generous by section — ceilings run to 3.1 metres.

A one-bedroom residence in the new-build wing, its living room set a half-level proud of the towpath. Douglas fir joinery and a deep window seat do the quiet work.

A one-bedroom loft taken from the hopper floor of the original works, the sleeping mezzanine slung between cast-iron columns. Dual aspect — east to the court, west to the water.

A two-bedroom set arranged on one level, named for the slaking gardens it overlooks. Rooms are square, doors are wide, and the kitchen is built rather than fitted.

Three bedrooms across the top of the works, under a new sawtooth roof that takes its pitch from the old calcining sheds. A single run of rooflight carries north light the length of the plan.
